Description
This Picture was shot on the grounds of the Gaudi Estate, Spain.
Historically, Native American Indians used all parts of the yucca plant. Its roots were made into soap, and its leaf fibers were used for cords and sandals. The stalks, buds, and flowers of some varieties were used as food.
The leaves were also utilized as paintbrushes by the Southwest Indians. Women chewed the leaf tip to a beautiful fringe which created a fine paintbrush to use in decorating pottery.
Yucca produces bisexual flowers (they contain both types of reproductive organs). Clusters of creamy white or pink flowers develop on top of the long flower stalks. Individual flowers are tulip-shaped.
